Neighborhood Associations
The Dawson Elementary School boundaries overlap two (2) neighborhood associations.
The Galindo Neighborhood Association is a wonderful gem, nestled in the heart of South Austin. The boundaries are Oltorf Street on the North, Ben White on the South, the Union Pacific Railway on the West and South First Street on the East.
The purpose of the Association is to seek to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood in matters such as land use, traffic control, social functions, environmental protection, public services,
and other matters of neighborhood concern.
Membership in the Galindo Neighborhood Association (GENA) is open to residential property owners and residents residing within the boundaries of the Galindo Neighborhood.
Meetings are held in the heart of the neighborhood at South Austin Recreation Center, 1100 Cumberland Rd. These meetings are a great way to meet neighbors and participate in discussions shaping the neighborhood. Neighbors gather at 6:45 pm, and business starts at 7:00 p.m.
